On QMK and VIA programmable boards like the V6, the encoder can be remapped to scroll, zoom, or other functions. Fixed-function boards only control volume and media playback.
Yes. On 75 percent boards the knob occupies space that would otherwise hold a single key or a badge. The rest of the layout remains standard.
Yes. Full-size, 96 percent, and 99-key layouts include both a number pad and a knob. The knob sits in the top-right corner beside the pad.
No. The F75 Pro and V6 support hot-swap, but other models may have soldered switches. Check the individual board for socket type.
A rotary encoder sits in the top-right corner of the case on most of these boards. Turning it adjusts system volume in steps; pressing it mutes audio or plays and pauses media. The knob is separate from the keys, so volume changes do not require a modifier combination.
On programmable models the encoder can be reassigned to scroll, zoom, or scrub through timeline positions. The V6 Wired Custom Mechanical Keyboard is QMK and VIA programmable, which means the knob behavior is remappable per layer. Non-programmable boards ship with fixed volume and media functions only.
The knob adds height and width to the top-right area of the case. On 96 percent and 99-key layouts it sits beside the number pad rather than replacing any keys. On 75 percent layouts it occupies space that would otherwise hold a single key or a badge.
The knob appears across full-size, 96 percent, 99-key, and 75 percent layouts. Full-size and 96 percent boards keep the number pad and place the encoder in the top-right corner. The 75 percent boards drop the number pad but retain the knob in the same corner position.
Hot-swappable sockets let you change switches without soldering on several of these models. The F75 Pro and V6 both support hot-swap, and the V6 adds QMK and VIA programmability. Pre-lubed switches and side-printed PBT keycaps appear on the F75 Pro, which affects typing feel and legend visibility.
